Weekend 4 of 5: Is that Light at the end of our Tunnel?

Wow, things are moving along quickly, aren't they?  However, it seems that most of you are doing well in managing your time and the assignments.  I hope you are even beginning to slightly enjoy your technological journey.  Remember to ask questions if you have them and come to class early on Friday for extra help :^D

This weekend:  We will put your TaskStream NETS I narratives on TaskStream, become Inspired by Inspiration (slight delay ;-), and make a PSA using iMovie, and post your assignments/artifacts to your blog (Emerging Technology Assignment). We are in for a lot of fun this weekend!

Don't forget to bring headphones and a positive attitude to class this weekend.

This weekend's Question:  What is your current favorite work of art?  It could be a painting, a sculpture, or something else created by an artist. . . Picasso's Guernica is probably my favorite painting. . .and I had the good fortune of seeing it in person at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, Spain. . .It's big and very cool.

Weekend 3 of 5: Half-Fumpty?

Optimistically, the class is half-full-- Pessimistically, the class is half-empty, so when the two collide, we must be half-fumpty?  In any case, we are at the midway point of our weekends together ;-) 


Tonight: We will grade the PowerPoints/Prezis, dip our toes into TaskStream, discuss the journals, to include Classroom 2.0/Web 2.0 Tool Investigation. . .
Mañana: We will seek Inspiration to Excel in a wiki. . .

A quick note:  please bring headphones tomorrow if you have them.  They will help if you are working on the wiki or the Excel assignment.

This Weekend's Question: What is your current favorite non-school related activity? I would say mine is definitely snowboarding!

Weekend 2 of 5: Technology, blog, blog, blog. . .

After our first weekend together, I imagine everyone experienced the entire range of emotions: you laughed, you cried, technology moved you :^D
Then you had to do all the work. . .Phew: newsletters, journals, journals, journals, journals. . .scanning, edtech-whatphile?

Week 2: we should be familiar with the Macs and the fast pace of the instructions.  We will start off with the Social Bookmarking assignment, ensure everyone can enroll in the TaskStream containers, take a look at the ISTE NETS for Teachers (NETS-T) and the way in which we write the narratives (samples), get the PowerPoint. . .which takes a look at the NETS-S, create a rubric to grade the PowerPoints, and learn about Copyright/Internet Safety using Google Docs (which I will also show you. . .). . .and maybe even take a breath or two.

Remember that all week 1 assignments are due tonight. . .ask any question you have regarding an assignment or how to submit it at the beginning of class tonight. . .chances are your question is one that another student may have!!

This week's Question: Who is your current favorite artist or musician?  My all-time favorite is Radiohead, but for the last month, I can't seem to stop listening to Broken Bells . .

Weekend 1 of 5: Welcome to Ed 422. . .Do not pass GO without Reading!

Welcome to another awesome ~truncated~ semester of EDUC 422. . .Technology Tools for Education. I expect that you will learn a lot about how to integrate technology into the classroom, as well as learn how to ramp-up your so-called digital life ;-)


I will use this blog to keep everyone updated on the weekly requirements for the course, as well as model for you how to create a blog for your future classroom!  I need you to read each entry carefully, as I will be giving away $50 a week to the person who finds the hidden gnome on the post. . .okay, not really, but I need everyone to read each entry ;-)

Technical Issues:  
First order of business:  If you do not have a Gmail Address/Account, you need to get one!  (and no, your CSUSM email does not count).  Don't worry, I have worked it out with Google to give you free email accounts!
You will be asked to join and/or participate in a number of web-based tools, software, etc. . .I recommend that you find a user name that identifies you, is appropriate for school/parents, and you can remember. . .
While this course has no required text, you will be required to subscribe to ISTE, the International Society for Technology in Education (see link on this blog), as well as purchase a subscription to TaskStream, an online portfolio generator.  
     For TaskStream (also linked on this blog): You will need to self-enroll in two separate portfolios.
